Drafting State-of-the-Art Monetary Policy Reports
A one-week workshop for central bankers who write, edit, or oversee Monetary Policy Reports. Working in a small group of one to three, you'll learn the complete drafting process from start to finish and produce one polished, publication-ready section of an MPR — a process you can then apply to every other chapter of the report.
What you'll do
Rather than rushing an entire report, this workshop teaches the craft properly. Over the week you take one complete section from analysis to publication-ready draft, using the Global Economy and Commodity Markets chapter as the teaching example.
We use this chapter deliberately. The analytical and writing techniques are the same ones used throughout the report, so what you learn transfers directly to every other chapter. The section is also largely country-independent — only the interpretation depends on your domestic economy — which lets us focus on the drafting process itself rather than on any single country's circumstances.
By the end of the week you will have:
-
Worked through the complete drafting process, start to finish, on a real MPR section
-
Produced a polished, publication-ready Global Economy and Commodity Markets chapter
-
Learned analytical and writing techniques that apply across the entire report
-
Practised the surrounding communications craft — clear narrative, consistent messaging, and executive framing
-
Learned to draft with our specialized GPTs so you can work faster and more consistently back at your institution
The goal is simple: teach a process you can take home and apply to every chapter of your Monetary Policy Report.
The specialized GPTs are part of the course
Your course fee includes one month's access to the specialized GPTs used during the workshop.
These are not generic AI tools. They have been trained on decades of practical experience developing monetary policy frameworks, building Forecasting and Policy Analysis Systems (FPAS), and drafting Monetary Policy Reports for central banks around the world. They are an integral part of the learning experience — you'll draft with them throughout the week and keep working with them for a month afterward.
Beyond the Monetary Policy Report
The GPTs do much more than help draft the report itself — they also help central banks produce content for their websites.
Traditional Monetary Policy Reports are accountability documents written primarily for economists and specialists. They are often lengthy PDFs that are difficult for journalists and the general public to digest. The GPTs can automatically transform the same analysis into website articles written in a journalistic style, answering the questions a general audience actually asks:
-
What happened?
-
Why does it matter?
-
What does it mean for households and businesses?
-
What are the key messages?
-
What are the quotations journalists are likely to use?
This lets the Monetary Policy Report remain the central bank's formal accountability document while giving you a much more accessible channel for public communication.
Format
This is a small-group workshop — just one to three participants — so the pace and content flex to your institution's needs. It runs for one week, two hours a day, and you can join in person or by Zoom.
